​Master of KOTO, founder of KOTO STUDIO Jiyuu-Ryu

Chieko Mori starts to learn Japanese Instrument of Koto, Piano and Japanese Dance at the age of three.
​After 
graduated Keio University Tokyo, (Environment and Information Studies at SFC)
she had been invited to FABRICA (Benetton artist research center) in Treviso, Italy for years.
Chieko explores her playing way through the experiences of creating music
with musicians who have diverse background.


After 2000, she moved to London where had been working with Robert Wilson's theater production, 
played for Venice Biennale 2001 and Giorgio Armani exhibition with Michael Galasso (Composer-Violinist). 
Composing music for choreographer Virpi Pahkinen Stockholm Dance company since 2007.

Chieko has fully mastered the techniques of classical Koto, adapted a fresh approach towards to the Instrument.
Her original methods has been teaching at “KOTO STUDIO” in Tokyo since 2007.

​Chieko Mori has been playing for various festivals and concerts over 18 countries, more than 70 cities.
